The Reintegration Program developed and implemented measures to build the capacity of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. In particular, it created the Unified State Register of War Veterans. It is essentially the most important step in making services convenient for Ukrainian defenders.
Together with the Ministry, the Reintegration Program has introduced the MARTA resource, an innovative project that allows users to check their mental health status and receive personalized recommendations for improving it here and now.
The IREX Veterans Reintegration Program works closely with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine. Together with the Ministry, we have developed an electronic Unified State Register of War Veterans. Thanks to the e-Veteran platform built on the basis of the registry, more than 200 thousand defenders have been able to learn about the opportunities and benefits to which they are entitled.
Another joint project of the IREX Veterans Reintegration Program and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine. It is a tool for psychological self-diagnosis and assistance for veterans, their families and civilians that is available 24/7. More than 90 thousand people have used the platform to take a psychological health survey, receive recommendations and, if necessary, crisis support from mental health professionals.
The IREX Veterans Reintegration Program supports the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine in training social workers in the basics of psychosocial support for veterans and their families. Social workers are the first-line specialists in interaction with defenders, so they need to know what to look for in each case in order to refer for further assistance. The program focuses on veterans with injuries/disabilities, those who have returned from captivity, and relatives of missing and fallen soldiers.
A significant focus of the IREX Reintegration Program is to support the development of state and non-governmental institutions that help female and male veterans. Therefore, we support the NGO “Space of Opportunities” in developing standards for veterans’ spaces that will provide services to defenders and their families. We also joined the All-Ukrainian Dialogue “Communities to Veterans”, in which veteran policy stakeholders presented their experience in reintegrating veterans at the community level.
